black vulture

This young Black Vulture, unable to fly, was found in a Sykesville backyard. After several attempts to capture him, he was finally lured into a humane trap. Examination by a veterinarian found that the youngster had been shot. Fortunately, no bones were broken nor any organs damaged, and we were able to release him into an existing flock.

barred owl

This Barred Owl was found sitting on the side of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Probably the victim of a car, he was unable to hold his head upright and his left eye was closed. After several weeks the symptoms of his head injury did resolve, he was tested to make sure he could hunt successfully, and he, too, was released.
